Mamta Doli

Reduction in delay due to transportation to the health facility for Institutional Delivery is of utmost importance for bringing down the MMR. In view of the above the State Govt. has decided to implement the Mamta Doli initiative in certain inaccessible areas of Gujarat.

The purpose of the initiative is to bring the pregnant women to the nearest motorable point from where she can be picked up from ambulance receiving point for further transportation by EMRI 108 vehicle for Institutional Delivery or transportation of the pregnant women directly by the Mamta Doli service providers.

Institutional Arrangement for the Initiative

The Village Health and Sanitation Committee (VHSC) of the village will identify the 2 to 3 persons who will be readily available to transport the pregnant lady to the pickup point of 108 Vehicle. The identified persons for this service may also take the pregnant women to the health facility for institutional delivery on their own.

  • The identified persons must be the resident of the same village.
  • Out of 2 to 3 identified persons one should be available in the village round the clock so as no beneficiary is left unattended.
  • If all the identified persons are not available in the village at the same time then an alternative arrangement is to be made by identified persons.
  • A proper record of the number of women transported and amount of remuneration paid is to be maintained by VHSC and shared with the MO PHC.
  • The names of the identified persons must be decided in the meeting of VHSC.
  • The remuneration for the transport will be paid by VHSC at the rate of 200 per delivery and the same will be reimbursed by the concerned PHC to VHSC.
